Coaches - Leading by Example - Sign Up

Dear Volunteer Coach,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to discuss the upcoming coaching course and why it is so important for you to consider registering.

I recently came across an article titled "Why Volunteer Coaches Need to be More Like Volunteer Firefighters" by John O'Sullivan. In the article, O'Sullivan draws a parallel between volunteer firefighters and volunteer coaches, highlighting the importance of proper training and preparation for both roles. Just as volunteer firefighters spend countless hours preparing for life-threatening situations, volunteer coaches should be equipped with the tools and knowledge to positively influence the lives of young athletes.

The article points out that 70% of children quit sports before the age of 13, and many of them never see a certified coach before they walk away. Research from the Aspen Institute shows that only 5% of children quit sports the next year if they have a trained coach, while over 25% quit if their coach is untrained. Proper training not only enhances the coaching experience but also increases the likelihood of coaches returning season after season.

As the leader of our soccer organization, I believe that lives are at stake, and we must mandate and deliver coach training that is relevant, age-appropriate, and draws from a modern understanding of how children learn and how to teach. Volunteerism is no excuse for a lack of professionalism. Our young athletes deserve the best version of ourselves as coaches.

Coaches, assistant coaches and Team Parents, I strongly encourage you to register for the upcoming coaching course. Team Parents, while you are not required to do so, we need your help. In the absence of head and assistant coaches you will be able to fill in. The course will provide you with a solid foundation for being the coach that all our athletes need. Let's be more like volunteer firefighters and make a huge difference in the health and well-being of our community!

If you are unable to attend the ERYSL offer certification course on

  • Saturday, August 26 at 6:30 PM (Virtual Classroom Session)
  • Sunday, August 27 at 9:00 AM (In-Person Field Session)

Coaches & Team Parents

One of the essential functions of coaches and team parents is to manage team communications with players and their families.  If you are a coach or team parents, we have created a Team Management Guide for Coaches and Team parents to help you use our website and mobile app to efficiently and effectively communicate and manage your teams. Whether you are an experienced coach or coaching for the first time in your life, the US Youth Soccer link below has the resources to help you before, during and after the game.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED - Volunteers - FINAL APPEAL

Despite our prior communications, we have yet to find volunteers from our group to fill essential roles. The U10 Boys Mama Rosa teams urgently require a Head Coach, an Assistant Coach, and a Team Parent. The absence of these roles directly impacts your child's chance to participate this season.

Without a dedicated Head Coach, we face the following challenges:

  • In the absence of a dedicated team, the boys may be distributed among the other two teams, leading to 20 or 21 players per team. Consequently, players would rotate every game, and each child might only play 3 to 4 games throughout the season. Please note that priority will be given to original team members.

I urge you, if you or someone you know is willing to take on these roles, to register at the registration link below without delay. For those new to coaching, we provide a Coaches Clinic and a dedicated coaching app to assist and guide you.
